Content Planning
Planning the content of a site may be a project on its own. You need first to make assumptions on what will be of most value to visitors. No one knows your business better than you, that's why outsourcing may not be wise. To help you, there are quite a few tools to your aid. You will be able to use these tools to decide on which information will be most important for a website at what stage.
Mindmapping
You could start using a mindmapping tool to structure your thoughts and organize your content. Try Freemind for instance. I prefer MindManager, from Mindjet. Its a nice way to get and stay in control of your content creating process. Mindmapping graphically presents your thoughts associated with a certain subject. Its also a big help when creating a plan with objectives, results, tasks, subtasks etc.
You want to focus on Adsense?
Primary and secondary content
The content of your site must be determined by the type of site and your objective. For instance, a site that is about navigation equipment would most likely have descriptions , specification information and reviews on the products around. Secondary content could be comparisons of equipment from various manufacturers, articles on navigation emerging technology, or news about adventure & trekking events. The secondary content serves as a funnel for visitors with a broader or more specific interest. When they're thinking about a purchase, they will seek out the primary product-related information. The website will have built up a level of credibility with the customer by being an expert in the field. So, they'll click your ads (the ones in the primary area likely being product-related, thus higher valued) , subscribe to your newsletter and return for more.
And just one more thing: planning is a good thing, but don't take it too far. You need remain flexible.
