Joomla site with Google Adsense
Why Joomla
Joomla is not only my personal favourite, it is the most popular Content Management System (CMS) available. This Open Source product is supported by a large community, with many extensions that work right out-of-the-box are offered at little or no cost. Ideal for those of us who have a small purse, or want to maximise their revenue.
Now (maybe it's because I'm from Holland) I favor the free ones. You can get free extensions on lots of topics, like community building, blogging, forum, content presentation, site administration, content writing, Ecommerce, mailing, etc. There are just sooo many. You can check them on the Joomla Extension page.
Installation / try-out
When you're seriously thinking about using Joomla, you could check out documentation Yes, this is an open source project taken seriously! A first concrete step towards using it, could be downloading a server version packed with all-you-need and put it on your own harddrive or USB stick first. Then when you've finished your prototype and want to put it online, just add a free backup extension and restore the site online. Then, you need to do some configuration for SEO. But lets talk about entering content first.
Joomla and Content
There are several ways to add content to the Joomla site. If you're new to this, it may be easiest to do your initial setup with the sample-data. This way you can try out various ways of presenting content, playing with columns, intro-text or not, pictures, styles, templates, etc. My advice on this is twofold and simple: 1) place yourself in the seat of the person viewing your site and try to determine what would work for them, and then 2) test test test.
I think I'll do a small article on editing content, as there are several ways to do it, and several things to take into account.

- JoomlaFCK Editor as internal editor
- AddToAny for social bookmarking
- NinjaXplorer as a versitile backend tool
- VirtueMart webshop
- Idoblog for blogging
- Kunena for forum
- Community builder for communities
Then some extensions will help you with Joomla SEO revenue
If you use Joomla without any extension you'll have a hard time getting a high ranking and solid revenues. Here's some extensions that'll help you max out SEO and generate Google Adsense revenue:
- Xmap for Sitemap
- 404SEF for Search Engine Friendly url's
- J!Analytics to enable Google Analytics
- Adsense Module (Clicksafe) for Joomla Adsense revenue
- SEO KeyWordLink
- Custom Page Title - SEO
- JoomSEO (expect no updates on this component)
Of course there are others as well. The number of registered extensions is approaching 5000. But, there's some people who just never have or take the time to register their extension oon the Joomla site. Like I made a plugin for registration of pageviews, ported a nice menu based on javascript to Joomla, created a nice download component. So I think it's a nice framework if you're into programming as well.
Oh yeah: one thing that'll help your revenue is using SEF (Search Engine Friendly) url's. That's a setting in the backend.
